Mandatory Parents Meeting
Wednesday September 1, 2010
6:00 PM @ Chaminade
Cafeteria
To: Chaminade Hockey Parents
From: Mark Finke
Date: August 28th, 2010
Re: 2010-2011 Players Fees, Ad Book, & Important Dates
Welcome to all of you to another season of Chaminade Hockey. We are excited about the upcoming season, including some important enhancements we are introducing to the program. We have included a variety of items for your review in this letter including fees, the ad book, and listing of important dates for the upcoming season. Please note there is a MANDATORY Parent's meeting on Wednesday, September 1 st , 2010 in the Chaminade cafeteria.
Ice time costs have increase somewhat, and we expect to have a small reduction in the total number of high school players this year. As such, we will have Mid-States Varsity and JV programs for 2010-2011. We are currently evaluating the Mid-States Development Program to determine if it is a viable alternative for a third Chaminade Hockey team for the upcoming season. The Development Program would allow Middle School students to participate where in the past they could not. We are currently gauging interest from the Middle School players to determine if enough interest exists to field the 3 rd team. Once a final decision has been made, we will communicate that via blast email to all of you.
The player's fees will be $1,950 per player for the upcoming 2010-2011 Season. This applies to both the Varsity and Junior Varsity.
As in previous years, you can offset your fees with ads in the hockey program. There will be no “initial holdback” of ad book revenue to offset player's fees nor there a formula for ad revenue to offset fees. The Board continues to feel that the players' fees should be offset dollar for dollar for every ad sold. That means if you sell $1,950 worth of ads, the player's hockey fees will be covered for the upcoming season.
The costs of ads for this season are as follows:
Full Page Ad: $500
½ Page Ad: $275
¼ Page Ad: $150
Business Card: $100
Front Inside Cover: $1,500 (Left and Right Hand Sides)
Inside Back Cover: $1,250 (Left and Right Hand Sides)
Outside Back Cover: $2,250
Attached to this letter is an introductory letter that players can utilize to provide to prospective ad buyers, as well as an ad form that should accompany each letter. Ads and payment should be collected by players NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 1 st , 2010. A physical address to forward the forms, ads and payment will be provided to you at a later date.
As a reminder, the following electronic ad formats are preferred: PDF, EPS, TIF, JPEG, QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. PLEASE encourage your advertisers to submit ads via email or on disk in one of listed electronic formats. This saves a tremendous amount of time and money during the layout and production of the ad book.
If you have any questions regarding the ad book, please email Kelley Kesterson at kjkesterson@sbcglobal.net.
Finally, we have attached an” Important Dates” sheet for your reference that lists a variety of dates throughout the season to keep in mind. All of these events will also be posted on the master calendar at www.chaminadehockey.com . Please note in order to meet the financial obligations associated with the program, we are will again require an installment plan for the player's fees. In the event that your son is credited with ad sales in excess of your installment fees you have paid, you will be refunded the difference. Please call or email myself or Kelley if you have any questions.
Thanks in advance for your ongoing support of the Program. And see you at the rink!
Sincerely,
Mark G. Finke
President

All Chaminade hockey players are required by Mid-States Hockey Association to have a black helmet and black pants. Chaminade Hockey requires players have red and/or black gloves. Players are also required to wear their Chaminade practice jersey they received at Mini Camp to all tryouts and practices throughout the year. If for some reason you did not attend Mini Camp in July please see Coach Peterson for a jersey before your first tryout. Solid black socks are not provided by CCP Hockey but are recommended for all tryouts and practices since Club team colors are not allowed during practice. Players from the program last year already have solid black socks.

BY JEREMY RUTHERFORD ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 02/16/2010
VANCOUVER — In 1994, as the opening ceremony at the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, got under way, Yan Stastny was curling up next to a television in New Jersey, filled with pride.
It was a year after the former Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and Stastny's father, Peter, had been picked to carry the Slovakian flag into the ceremony.
"That was an amazing thing," said Yan Stastny, who was 12 at the time. "What an emotional moment it was. That small little country, and he led the team, holding the flag. ... I remember sitting on the floor, six feet from the TV, glued to it. I could see his face ... I could see tears in his eyes. I get chills down my spine, just thinking about it." MORE

High school hockey here brings out the spirit
By Dan O'Neill
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
02/05/2010
The contrast was astounding and undeniable.
On one side of the Hardee's IcePlex in Chesterfield, Mo., a Tier I Midget Major hockey game between the St. Louis Amateur Blues and the Ohio Blue Jacketswas underway. A smattering of spectators was on hand, members of immediate family, a friend or two. The caliber of hockey was top-notch. For kids 18 years of age and under, the competitive bar doesn't sit much higher.
On the opposite side of the building, a high school tournament was in swing, with Francis Howell playing St. Louis University High. The overall skill level wasn't as remarkable, but the ambiance was day to night. More than 1,400 people were jammed into the grandstands. Cheerleaders cheered, classmates clowned, school colors clashed, the building vibrated.
